Day 3 – Quick Stop in Austin, Texas

Day 3 – Austin, Texas

Finally Arrived in Austin, Texas

We arrived in Austin, Texas around 2:30 in the morning on June 9th after leaving Pensacola Beach, Florida around 1:00 pm on the 8th. The drive was long and quite uneventful as you can see from the end of my last post. And when we got in we had trouble finding which home was the one we were staying in that night (booked via AirBnB). After wandering around the neighborhood for 15 minutes while my mom stayed with our truck I finally found it, and man did it feel good to get into that bed.

The next morning after a quick bite to eat at Jim’s Restaurant in Austin, Texas we set off on the road once again towards Las Cruces, New Mexico. Our AirBnB hosts gave us a tip to check out Pedernales Falls State Park on our way out which was a nice break from sleeping and driving.

¡Saludos a Mexico!

Very quickly the landscape drastically changed from the swampy green lands of the Bayou the day before to the beginning of the dry and dusty desert, but somehow the greenery stuck around. Driving through El Paso at nighttime was also a pretty cool experience. All the lights made it look like the city just went on forever. Outside of the city the night was dark and to the south we looked out to our neighbors in Mexico, as I whispered a greeting. Although we were still in America it definitely did not feel like it.
